<p>The rules surrounding <a href="https://covertrip.com/claims/filing-a-travel-insurance-claim/">travel insurance claims</a> vary from company to company, but in general, you will be expected to:</p>

<p>In order to successfully make a claim on your travel insurance policy, it’s important to understand these tips.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-timely-notification-is-necessary">Timely notification is necessary</h2>



<p>You must notify the travel insurance company as soon as reasonably possible in the event of a possible claim &#8211; either before or during your trip. This includes trip cancellations, trip interruptions, travel delays, missed connections, baggage loss or delay, and more depending on the policy.</p>



<p>This has a dual benefit &#8211; the provider knows you need help and can start the process to get you out of trouble, and you have established that a claim may be filed, so there are no surprises later.</p>
